Hip-hop
4 classes a week
Grooves, rocks and party steps first, choreography second. The Monday and Saturday classes assume you have never done it; Wednesday assumes you have.
Old supermarket · Mallinckrodtstraße 12 · Dortmund Nordstadt
No membership. No class card. No direct debit going out on the first of the month. You turn up, you pay nine euros to the person on the door, you dance. Your first class costs nothing at all.

Live from the door tablet
This is the same count the person on the desk is looking at right now. Nine euros, cash or card, and you are in.

Every class, every night
Two rooms, twenty-six classes, one price. Filter by style, then just turn up. Nothing here can be booked — the pill on each class is the honest state of the room.

Reading the door tablet…
There is no online booking at Studio Zwölf, so nothing on this page is a reservation. The only counter is the tablet on the folding table by the door: the person on the desk taps you in when you pay. Everything you see here comes from that tablet and nowhere else.
Today's classes show the live number: room capacity minus the people already tapped in. The page re-reads the door every 60 seconds.
Every other day shows the median number still free when that class started, over the last eight weeks. It is a guide, not a promise.
When a class reads full, it is full. We stop the door at capacity because the floor runs out, and we will not squeeze one more person in because they messaged us.
Seven things you can walk into
Nobody will ask what level you are. Turn up to whatever sounds good; if it is wrong for you the teacher will say so and you can try the next one on Thursday.

4 classes a week
Grooves, rocks and party steps first, choreography second. The Monday and Saturday classes assume you have never done it; Wednesday assumes you have.

4 classes a week
Jamaican steps with the names kept — bogle, wine, gully creep. Loud, low and sweaty. Chantal's Friday class is the fullest thing we run.

4 classes a week
Afrobeats and coupé-décalé, footwork and chest. Big group energy, very little mirror-staring.

4 classes a week
Toprock, footwork, freezes, and enough conditioning that your wrists survive. Rafik runs it like a training room, not a course.
3 classes a week
Jacking, lofting, fast feet on a 125 bpm floor. The quietest class we run and the one people stay in longest.
3 classes a week
Femme choreography in heels or in trainers, entirely your call. Selin's class is mixed and nobody is watching you.

4 classes a week
Eight to thirteen, street basics and a lot of games. Seven euros, and one grown-up stays in the building.
Four people, no receptionist
Between them they cover every class on the board. Two of them also take the money on the door, which is why the counts on this page are accurate.

Hip-hop, house · runs the door
Grew up four streets away on Schützenstraße and started the studio in the empty supermarket in 2019 because nowhere in the Nordstadt would let you dance for under twenty euros. Teaches the basics class like it matters, because it is the one most people never come back from.
Teaches: Hip-hopHouse

Dancehall, afro · co-owner
Kingston steps learned in Amsterdam, afrobeats learned at home in Accra and at every Ghanaian wedding in North Rhine-Westphalia since. Will correct your knees six times in one class and mean it kindly every time.

Breaking · open floor
Twelve years in cyphers from Marseille to Duisburg. Opens the cold store an hour before his class so people can train alone, and does not charge for that hour.
Teaches: Breaking

Heels, Kids Street
Teaches the eight-year-olds on Monday and the heels class on Tuesday, and says the eight-year-olds are harder. Speaks Turkish, German and enough English to fix your posture.

Prices and house rules
That is the entire price list. There is nothing under it, nothing above it and nothing to sign.
We are asked for one most weeks and the answer does not change. No memberships, no ten-class cards, no direct debit, no minimum term, no “introductory offer” that renews at forty euros. If you come twice a month you pay eighteen euros; if you stop coming you pay nothing and nobody phones you. That is the whole business model and it is the reason the studio exists.

22 €/ h
Twenty-two euros an hour for the shop floor when no class is on, sound system included. Crews, rehearsals, a school group, a birthday. Message us on WhatsApp with the day and we will tell you straight away whether it is free.
Asked at the door most nights
No, and you can't. There is no booking system on this site or anywhere else. Look at the number on the class, come to Mallinckrodtstraße, pay at the desk.
Then it is full and you have come for nothing, which is the honest trade-off for having no booking. Check the page before you leave the house — today's numbers are live and the desk updates them as people walk in.
Yes, once, for your first ever class here. Tell the person on the door it is your first time. Nobody will ask you for a card number afterwards because we do not have anywhere to put one.
Monday 18:30 hip-hop, Tuesday 17:30 afro, Thursday 17:30 dancehall or Sunday 12:00 heels. All four are built for people who have never done it.
Whatever you can move in, plus indoor trainers with clean soles. The cold store gets very warm — bring a second shirt.
Evet. Selin teaches in Turkish whenever the room needs it, and the desk is bilingual most nights. This whole site is in Turkish too.
Yes, free, sit at the side. Say so at the desk so you are not counted into the room.

You do not have to write to us to come dancing — the door is the booking system. But if it is your first time and you want somebody to look out for you, send this and one of us will.
